Introduction

Dr. Mona AlRukhaimi is a Professor of Medicine at Dubai Medical College, United Arab Emirates, Consultant physician & Nephrologist and Director of AlRukhaimi Polyclinic and Ex-Head of Medical and Renal Department, Dubai Hospital.


She is the current President of the Emirates Medical Association Nephrology Society,ISN Council (2011-2017), chair of ISN-GO Middle East Committee, and the leader of the KDIGO Implementation Task Force for the Middle East & African Regions. She is a Member of the Governing Board of the Arab Society of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation. She is the first female Nephrologist and Internist in UAE. Graduated from the University of Kuwait in 1983 and subsequently received her MRCP (UK) in 1989, FRCP Edinburg – 2001 and FRCP London - 2005


Dr. AlRukhaimi has actively organized World Kidney Day activities in the UAE since 2006 and the past five rounds of the ISN Update Course in Nephrology. She played an active role in the Declaration of Istanbul on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism and continues to be an active member of its custodian group. She is a member of the Steering Committee for Women in Transplantation under TTS. She is regular Examiner at the Royal College of Physician of UK.
