Prof. Thomas Mathew M is a distinguished Senior Consultant in Nephrology at Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut, with over 53 years of exemplary service in nephrology, dialysis innovation, and medical education. Trained under the legendary Prof. K.S. Chugh at PGIMER, Chandigarh, Prof. Mathew has been a pioneering force in the development of nephrology services across Kerala’s government medical institutions.
He is credited with initiating key innovations in dialysis protocols, advancing peritoneal dialysis and CAPD, and playing a leadership role in the formulation of renal transplant authorisation frameworks in the state. Renowned for his deep clinical insight and academic rigour, Prof. Mathew has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to cornerstone medical textbooks. His accolades include the Kerala State Government’s Best Doctor Award, multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards, and oration honours.
